Hugh Bailey started at OCA in January 2024. Prior to that, he spent 20 years as a journalist in Connecticut, writing editorials and a weekly column about issues including housing, education and the enduring effects of segregation in this state and around the nation. He has also been a business writer and copy editor.
In 2013, he was awarded the Eugene C. Pulliam Fellowship for Editorial Writing, after which he produced an award-winning newspaper series about brownfield remediation and redevelopment in the United States and Europe.
He is a lifelong Connecticut resident and graduate of the University of Connecticut. He has a master's of urban planning degree from New York University's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
