Kenneshea Allums, Staff Attorney, [email protected], 860-610-6040

Kenneshea Allums (she/her) is a proud Southerner committed to tackling systemic issues by working closely with impacted individuals and using creative advocacy. She believes lawyering is one of many tools that can help build a more inclusive and equitable world. Her work is deeply informed by nature, art, and the lived experiences of oppressed people. Prior to joining OCA, Kenneshea was a Staff Attorney at a national civil rights organization. She clerked for two Connecticut federal judges and completed a trial advocacy fellowship at a Connecticut medical malpractice firm. During law school, Kenneshea participated in the CUNY Law Defenders Clinic. Additionally, she interned with the Center for Constitutional Rights, National Labor Relations Board, New York City Commission on Human Rights, Equal Justice Initiative, and Queen’s Legal Aid.

Kenneshea is a member of the state bars of Connecticut and New York. Additionally, her admission to the Texas Bar is pending. She received her JD from CUNY Law, MA in African American Studies from Columbia University, and undergraduate degrees from Centenary College of Louisiana.

Kenneshea is the quiet, observant type that values the process of cultivating relationships built on trust. She finds joy in the simple things like a toothy smile, lazy beach days, and an old school Southern fish fry. Currently, she finds inspiration through the work of Beyonce, Jesmyn Ward, Olayemi Olurin, and Katori Hall.
