Learn about the Opportunity Council

The Opportunity Council is a group of non-profit organizations that recognize that their issues connect to opportunity access.  Whether representing low-income communities, advocating for health equity or striving to reduce educational disparities, members of the Opportunity Council work together to find policy solutions to opportunity inequality.

Commitment:  Opportunity Council members

  • Come together 3-4 times a year to exchange ideas and strategies for promoting access to opportunity in Connecticut.
  • Educate policymakers and fellow non-profits on the importance of promoting access to opportunity and strategies for doing so.
  • Integrate the opportunity philosophy into their work.

If you are interested in joining, complete the information below.

We encourage all types of agencies to consider working with Open Communities Alliance.  Opportunity disparity affects a broad range of issues from health disparities, educational access, homelessness, criminal justice and more.  In particular, groups focusing on bringing resources to struggling communities might consider joining us to counter the policies exacerbate the problems they are trying to address.

Please tell us a bit more about your organization and we will follow up with a phone call to explore a partnership.
